The 2025 edition of the Boa Vista Ultra Trail, held on December 6th, once again showcased the unique charm of this desert island challenge. Weather conditions were close to perfect: overcast skies throughout the day and firm sand thanks to recent rainfall. An ideal setting for three spectacular races that delivered emotions, breakthroughs, and new records.
🏆 ULTRA MARATHON – 150 KM
Women – New course record
An extraordinary victory for Francesca Ferraro (ITA), who completed the 150 km in 21:00:48, setting the new women’s course record.
Ferraro covered the entire distance side by side with the men’s winner, making her achievement even more remarkable.
Behind her, the podium was completed by:
- Lucibelle Brito Duarte (CPV) – 29:33:48
- Giuseppina Bisignano (ITA) – 30:39:48
Men – A dominant win
A phenomenal performance from Stefano Giusto (ITA), who crossed the finish line in 21:00:48, having run the whole race together with Francesca Ferraro.
Giusto secured the men’s victory with a very large margin over the rest of the field.

🏅 SALT MARATHON – 75 KM
Women – New course record
Kristina Skupien (GEO) delivered a brilliant race and set the new women’s course record in 9:22:48.
Second place went to Angelica Palma (ITA), last year’s 42 km Eco Marathon champion, who stepped up to the 75 km distance in 2025.
Third place was shared: Pierangela Tassi (ITA) and Laura Varolo (ITA) crossed the finish line together, closing the race in a perfect tie.

A commanding victory for Flavio Zuppante (ITA), who sealed the race in 8:15:48.
Runners from Cape Verde completed the men’s podium: Antonio Cabral Gomes and João Fonseca Lopes.

🌍 ECO MARATHON – 42 KM
Women
Germany’s Elke Franke (GER) claimed victory with a strong 5:58:48, followed by Palmira Cozzarolo (ITA) and Lana Rockmann (GER).
Men
A superb win for Jardel Junior Dos Santos Fortes (CPV) in 4:06:59, the fastest overall time of the Eco Marathon.
Italy’s Daniele Poloni and Ivan Zufferli completed the podium.
🌤️ Ideal conditions for fast racing
The combination of overcast skies and compact sand provided perfect conditions for running in the Boa Vista desert.
The environment contributed to fast paces, high-level performances, and the two new women’s course records that marked this 2025 edition.

Athletes from across Europe and Africa took part in the three races, further confirming the international appeal and growing prestige of the Boa Vista Ultra Trail within the trail running community.
